Details
Join us for a hand building workshop where we’ll explore coil building as a way to create abstract, sculptural vessel forms while learning how to use coils to build structure, stability, movement, and volume.

Lead by Ceramics Artist Marina Caspe from the US, she will guide you through her approach to translating an idea in your head into a three-dimensional object. You will explore how to build unconventional forms while maintaining structural integrity, and how to respond to the unexpected changes that happen as the clay takes shape. Marina will also share her own process and experiences with coil building, and how working with clay has helped her discover new forms.

This workshop is designed for intermediate to advanced ceramicists who want to push coil building beyond traditional vessel forms and develop a more intuitive, sculptural approach to working with clay. Less experienced ceramicists can also benefit from it. If you are unsure whether your skillset is sufficient to attend, get in touch and we'll help you decide.

About Marina

Marina is a ceramic sculptor from Nantucket Massachusetts in the United States. She holds a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London and has been practicing ceramics for over 12 years. Marina loves exploring what clay can do, and especially loves teaching and sharing the processes that have shaped her own practice.

Please bring an idea, an image, or simply an open mind—and let’s turn it into form.
